🌟 About the role

We’re looking for a Technical Accountant to join our Finance & IT team and support the delivery of accurate, high-quality corporate accounting across the Combined Authority.

You’ll work closely with the Chief Accountant to develop financial systems, processes and reporting, while coordinating Finance team input into monthly and annual financial reporting, the Statement of Accounts and budget updates.

🔍 What you’ll do

  • 📑 Prepare statutory returns, journals, payroll entries and bank reconciliations.
  • 📊 Produce working papers for the Statement of Accounts.
  • 💻 Support financial reporting and ERP system development.
  • 🤝 Coordinate corporate financial reporting across the Finance team.
  • 🎓 Support and train colleagues on ERP accountancy software.

👤 About you

You’ll be a fully qualified Chartered Accountant with experience working in a complex organisation, strong Excel and IT skills, and the ability to produce accurate working papers suitable for auditors and governmental bodies.

Desirable: 🏛️ Local Government accounting ¦ 💻 Unit4 ERP ¦ 💰 Budget development ¦ 📅 Year-end accounts ¦ 💷 Treasury & cashflow forecasting.
